Introducing The Opus Project.
By making listening easily accessible and plainly described, The Opus Project attempts to connect classical music to common human experience.
Listening is empowered through the creation of weekly playlists which represent the very best selections from the astonishing diversity of classical music. The format organizes music around everyday emotions, longings, and rhythms of life.
The power of classical music is discovered in its reflection of history, both the triumphant and tragic. A fuller realization of this gives relatable, human context to the music: familiar experience, tangible emotion, and shared legacy.
The influence of classical music has been limited by an elitist reputation, often propagated by the barriers of overt intellectualism or cultural exclusivism. The Opus Project attempts to change this by making clear the references a listener needs to have in order to grasp and richly enjoy the music. This effort is aimed toward people of diverse backgrounds, identities, and prior musical tastes.
For whatever reason, emotion, thought, struggle, or idea - I’m hopeful this will be meaningful for someone.
